Used by thousands of companies worldwide, the SAP BW data warehouse is a tool that standardises data storage and a reporting interface across the whole company. It enables data from various SAP applications to be combined with data from external systems. Furthermore, it provides numerous ready-to-use reporting solutions.
SAP BW provides a ready-to-use infrastructure, and contains the so-called Business Content, which facilitates the implementation and support of a running system.
SAP BW is not limited to data sources from SAP systems. SAP BW can retrieve data from any sources, including third-party software, other data warehouses or data of external providers. Additionally, it is possible to apply cross-application programming interfaces (the so-called BAPI) so as to use other analysis and reporting systems than delivered with SAP BW.
